Frequently asked questions

What can I expect in the first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to understand what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss your goals, any past experiences with therapy, and what approaches might be most helpful for you. There’s no pressure to dive into anything too deep right away—we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be helpful for a wide range of concerns, from managing stress and anxiety to processing life changes and improving relationships. If you’re unsure, I offer a free 15-minute phone or virtual consultation to help you determine if working together feels like a good fit.

What is your approach to therapy?

I take a collaborative and client-centered approach, meaning we work together to explore what’s most important to you. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, EMDR, and Nature-Based Therapy, while tailoring sessions to your unique needs and goals.

Do you work with [specific concerns/populations]?

While I enjoy working with a wide array of concerns, my practice is currently focused on supporting the following:

  • Anxiety | OCD | Panic | Phobia(s)

  • Burnout | Depression

  • Identity Exploration

  • Neurodivergence: ASD, ADHD, Giftedness, Learning Disability

  • Trauma: Acute, Chronic, Complex

I specialize in working with preteen/adolescent populations as well as young adults. A formal diagnosis is not required — all are welcome. If you’re unsure whether I work with your specific concern, please feel free to reach out.

What are your session rates?

All available session options and rates are listed here.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients experiencing financial hardship. These spots are based on availability. Please reach out if cost is a concern, and we can discuss options.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes! I offer a free 15-minute phone or virtual consultation to answer any questions you have and help determine if we’d be a good fit.

How do I pay for sessions?

I accept payment via credit card, e-transfer, and direct billing to select benefit providers like CVAP and AFD. Payment is due at the time of the session.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance directly, but many extended health benefits plans cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor and/or a Registered Social Worker. You will be provided with a receipt to submit for reimbursement. Check with your provider to confirm your coverage.

How do I book a session?

You can book a session through my online booking system, or email me if you have questions.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Your appointment time is reserved just for you, so a late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in my day that could have been filled by another client. Late cancellations or missed sessions will be subject to a fee.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

Yes! I offer in-person sessions at my office in Kelowna, Walk & Talk sessions at various Kelowna locations, and virtual sessions for clients within British Columbia.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a key part of therapy. What you share stays between us, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law).

What happens if I see you in public?

If we run into each other outside of sessions, I will follow your lead. I won’t acknowledge you unless you do first, to protect your privacy.

Can you write letters for school/work?

Depending on the request, I may be able to provide a letter for school or work accommodations. Please note that this is not guaranteed and may involve an additional fee.

Can I bring my emotional support animal?

While I love animals, my office has certain restrictions. Please reach out to discuss this if it’s important for your therapy.
